The two who died were father and son, the father in his 70s and the son in his 40s, police operations leader Wilhelm Bjølseth told NTB. The seriously injured man, also in his 40s, was flown to hospital by air ambulance, and his condition is stable, according to the prosecutor. The shooting happened near Halden, about 96 kilometres from Oslo and close to the Swedish border.

Police received the first reports of the shooting at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, and announced the arrest at 8 a.m. Prosecutors suspect a conflict is behind the attack; the motive remains under investigation.
